Trained first as a mechanical engineer, I now measure the masses of black holes with the
Galaxy Dynamics Lab (University of Michigan) and the USAC Astrophysics Research Group,
where I currently serve as deputy lead — and I am the research mentor for the
USAC Astronomy Club.

Dynamical Black Hole Mass Modelling JAM · KinMS
Turning resolved stellar and gas kinematics into black hole masses through Jeans-anisotropic and gas-disk dynamical modelling — the bridge between a physical theory and a number pulled out of a galaxy's motion.
Molecular-Gas Kinematics ALMA
Using ALMA observations of circumnuclear molecular gas as a clean dynamical tracer of the mass enclosed at a galaxy's centre, including the ultramassive black hole in NGC 4061.
Stellar Kinematics with JWST JWST / NIRSpec
Extracting stellar line-of-sight velocity distributions from JWST/NIRSpec spectroscopy to weigh the supermassive black hole at the centre of the nearby spiral galaxy M81.
Mock Observations for Future Facilities ELT / HARMONI / MICADO
Simulating what the Extremely Large Telescope will see — from intermediate-mass black holes in nuclear star clusters to ultramassive black holes at 1 < z < 2 — before the instrument itself exists.
Observational Facilities
Alongside the Galaxy Dynamics Lab and the USAC Astrophysics Research Group, I work with data and mock observations from these observatories — measuring what is already visible, and rehearsing what the next generation of telescopes will let us see.
